Winners of the Lancashire Tourism, Awards 'Restaurant of The Year 2021'
We are thrilled to announce that we have been crowned 'Restaurant of the Year' at the Lancashire Tourism Awards. On Wednesday 2nd Feb, Marketing Lancashire hosted almost 400 tourism and hospitality partners and colleagues, where guest presenter Tez Ilyas, alongside Headline Sponsor UCLan and Destination Sponsor, Blackburn with Darwen Council celebrated the winners of the Lancashire Tourism Awards 2021.
Our Chef Patron, Mark Birchall reminisces on why he chose Moor Hall, Aughton for the location of his first restaurant;
"I always wanted to open a restaurant in my home county and luckily Moor Hall sits in six acres with some amazing outbuildings and grounds all steeped in history. I couldn't ask for more.
We serve great food, give great hospitality, and look after our guests. That combination just does it. We have a team, striving to be the best in their fields, our produce, where not grown within our own gardens, is all locally sourced, an excellent wine list, plus the surroundings are beautiful. It's the whole package really "
Lancashire is a land of abundance. Our gardens teem with fruit and vegetables and flowers and herbs. In season here you might eat peas straight out of the pod, so fresh all they need is a touch of salt and nasturtium oil. What we don’t grow we seek out from the amazing produce tended and nurtured by local farmers and artisans.
On site we’re also busy with charcuterie, bread-making and our own micro-dairy. There’s always something interesting to explore or a discovery to be made. And we like to share what we find.
